Paying It Forward: The History of Xavier Batchmates Foundation Inc.In the halls of Xavier Dormitory at Ateneo de Naga University, a brainchild of its then President, Fr. Joel E Tabora, dreams were born and futures forged. Since 2023, graduates who once walked those halls as scholars—many from humble beginnings—have carried forward a legacy of gratitude. The Xavier Batchmates Foundation Inc. (XBFI) embodies this spirit, a beacon of hope dedicated to transforming lives through education. With a vision of national development rooted in human potential, XBFI is a testament to the power of paying it forward, ensuring that the opportunities that lifted its founders are extended to the next generation.
The roots of XBFI stretch back years before its formal inception, woven from the collective desire of Xavier Dormitory alums, scholars, and Ateneo de Naga graduates to give back. In informal but heartfelt efforts, these alumni pooled resources to support promising students who mirrored their own journeys.
A significant factor in the formalization of XBFI’s came through the vision of Ryan Labrador, founder of Revlv Solutions Inc., a Makati-based IT company. Ryan, a product of Ateneo de Naga’s nurturing environment, credits his success to the values of hard work and gratitude instilled during his time as a scholar. Alongside fellow alumni—engineers, lawyers, entrepreneurs, public servants, and other professionals—he recognized that their individual acts of giving could achieve greater impact through unity. This realization ignited a movement, binding graduates by their shared experience of being lifted by Ateneo’s commitment to academic excellence, regardless of economic circumstance.
Today, XBFI stands as a bold invitation to dream bigger—for scholars, for communities, for the Philippines.
